Why come to Canberra?

There are a lot of good reasons why Canberra is a great spot for ANHC 2014. They might be different reasons to having it in Melbourne or Sydney but we can guarantee you a great few days or even longer.

Easy on the eye

Canberra is a planned city and everything is well laid out and the air is clean. Great open spaces, lakeside views, terrific sporting facilities and bushland to explore. You might spend your whole visit in a smelly bar but it’s good to know there's alternatives.

The venue

The conference venue is the historic University House in the green and leafy Australian National University, right on the edge of the city and walking distance to city hotels, bars and national attractions. It has a great beer garden just out the case you were wondering.

Food and beer

Canberra has an excellent local food scene, with some of the country’s best cafes, restaurants and bars. We have two local breweries, Zierholz and the Wig and Pen (with the new Bent Spoke brewery opening in 2014), and a fast growing local cider industry. Farmers’ markets offer the best in local fruit, vegetables, plants, flowers, seafood, cakes, condiments, meats, cheeses and more and if you feel like having a wine there’s over 30 wineries within 35 minutes of Canberra.

Get National

Ok, Parliament House may not be your idea of a good time but there’s also the National Museum, War Memorial, National Library and National Gallery, all free to visit. Drunk? Yes. Bored? No.
